Job summary

1st St. NW Inc. in Plymouth, MN is seeking a Controls Engineer to join our growing industrial components engineering and manufacturing team. This direct-hire role includes profit sharing, 401(k) match, PTO, health and dental coverage.

The ideal candidate holds a related bachelor's degree and 2+ years' automation experience with PLCs, servo drives, HMIs, sensors, and robotics. Salary ranges from $90k to $110k per year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical discipline (Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering).
• 2+ years of experience with automation / control systems incl. PLCs, servo/stepper motors, drives, robotics, HMIs, sensors, and vision systems.
• Experience with major PLC/robot brands (Rockwell, Siemens, B&R; Fanuc/ABB/KUKA).
• Ability to develop electrical schematics and wiring; debugging electrical systems.
• U.S. work authorization without sponsorship; eligible to access ITAR data; ability to pass a drug test.

Responsibilities

• Apply automation and motion control engineering to integrated motor products and custom systems.
• Review system and controls architecture to support reliable integration across subsystems.
• Develop electrical schematics and support wiring, debugging, and troubleshooting.
• Develop controls software and integrate sensors, drives, indicators, and PLC logic.
• Provide input to SOWs for subcontractors and design/build work.
• Design and document control systems for automation test equipment and program controllers/drives.
• Contribute to test procedure development and product qualification testing.
