Job summary

Default Brand is seeking a senior Controls Engineer to design and implement machine controls and integrated systems in Minnesota. You will create new PLC programs, assist testing, and maintain libraries, ensuring safety standards and project delivery.

The role requires a four-year Electrical Engineering degree (or equivalent) and 6 years of related experience with AB PLC, HMI, and servo control, plus robotics experience. A comprehensive benefits package accompanies the position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or equivalent in electrical engineering or related field with relevant experience.
• Experience with AB PLC, HMI, and servo control; robotics/vision systems preferred.
• Proven ability to read schematics, troubleshoot, and lead design reviews.
• Ability to mentor teammates and document designs for others.

Responsibilities

• Create new programs for machines and integrated systems.
• Assist Checkout Technicians with factory testing and field service.
• Maintain libraries of PLC, robot programs, and templates.
• Design and implement controls for machinery and integration projects.
• Evaluate cost options for current and future designs.
• Lead safety assessments and ensure compliance with standards.
• Supervise subcontractor vendors and coordinate project work.
• Review and troubleshoot customer field issues and propose fixes.
• Improve speed, capacity, reliability, and ease of operation.
