Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking a Controls Engineer II to design, develop, test, and implement control system software for industrial refrigeration and HVAC equipment.

You will join a collaborative engineering team delivering advanced controls for chillers, air handlers, and smart building products, with exposure to state-of-the-art testing facilities and opportunities to contribute to decarbonization, data center efficiency, and sustainability initiatives.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related; MS preferred.
• 4–6 years of controls, automation, embedded systems, or related engineering experience, or an MS with relevant industry experience.
• Experience developing control algorithms and software using MATLAB/Simulink.
• Working knowledge of model-based design for embedded systems.
• Familiarity with control systems concepts, modeling, simulation, and data analysis.
• Experience supporting product development, validation testing, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Contribute as part of a growing engineering team addressing decarbonization and data center cooling needs.
• Design, implement, test, and support control software for chillers and air handling units in data centers and large facilities.
• Develop reliable code using MATLAB/Simulink and model-based design for embedded systems.
• Apply control theory to develop robust, efficient control solutions and analyze data for optimization.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers throughout product development.
• Participate in lab and field testing to validate performance and troubleshoot issues.
