Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Controls Engineer II to design, develop, test, and implement control software for industrial refrigeration and HVAC equipment.

You will join a collaborative team delivering advanced controls for chillers, air handlers, and smart building products, applying model-based design with MATLAB/Simulink, and supporting decarbonization and energy efficiency initiatives across data centers and large facilities.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Software, or Systems Engineering; MS preferred.
• 4–6 years of controls, automation, embedded systems, or related experience.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink for control algorithms.
• Model-based design principles for embedded systems.
• Strong communication and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to read embedded C/C++ and use Python/MATLAB scripting.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and support control software for chillers and air handling units.
• Develop reliable code using MATLAB/Simulink and MBSE methods.
• Analyze system and test data to support controller development and validation.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers.
• Participate in lab and field testing to validate performance.
• Support technical reviews and process improvements.
