Job summary

Actalent is hiring a Contracts Controls Engineer in Zeeland, MI to design, program, and launch automated manufacturing equipment. You will own controls architecture end-to-end, including PLC programming, HMI development, robotics integration, and equipment commissioning for high-volume production lines.

You will collaborate with mechanical engineering and process teams to create robust, safe, and scalable automation solutions, lead startup activities, and produce documentation and narratives for

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing, developing, and implementing controls systems for automated manufacturing equipment.
• Hands-on experience programming Allen-Bradley PLCs from scratch using Studio 5000 / RSLogix.
• Strong background in developing and troubleshooting HMI applications, preferably using FactoryTalk View.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement controls systems for custom manufacturing equipment and automated machinery.
• Program Allen-Bradley PLCs using Studio 5000 / RSLogix for new and existing equipment.
• Develop, configure, and troubleshoot HMI applications using FactoryTalk View.
• Integrate and program industrial robots (ABB/FANUC) to support automated processes.
• Design and develop machine control architecture including safety systems and networks.
• Create electrical schematics using Solidworks Electrical or EPLAN.
• Configure servo drives and motion control systems for performance.
• Develop machine sequences and control logic for production lines.
• Support prototype builds, debugging, and process development.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers to integrate controls with mechanics.
