Job summary

Actalent in Sparta, TN seeks a Controls / Manufacturing Engineer to design, program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC-based control systems for reliable manufacturing operations. You will develop HMIs/SCADA, support commissioning, and collaborate with maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to drive safety, efficiency, and product quality.

The role requires hands-on work on automation equipment, with Lean/Six Sigma-inspired problem solving.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience with industrial automation and manufacturing equipment.
Proficiency in PLC programming and troubleshooting.
Ability to read electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams on the plant floor.

Responsibilities

Design, program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC-based control systems for manufacturing operations.
Develop and modify HMI, SCADA, motion-control, and robotic automation systems.
Troubleshoot electrical, controls, and automation equipment to minimize downtime.
Support installation, commissioning, and startup of new equipment and lines.
Develop and improve processes to increase throughput and quality.
Analyze data to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
Create and maintain electrical schematics and control documentation.
Work with maintenance to develop preventive maintenance strategies.
Apply Lean/Six Sigma/5S for continuous improvement.
Assist with equipment selection and capital projects.
