Job summary

NCW is seeking a Controls Engineer to support and improve automated systems in a fast-paced manufacturing and material handling environment. This role focuses on troubleshooting, system optimization, and continuous improvement to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.

The successful candidate will work with PLCs, VFDs, servo drives, and motor control systems; perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions while partnering with operations and maintenance to improve

Qualifications

Experience with industrial automation, controls, or maintenance.
Working knowledge of PLCs and electrical systems.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
Ability to read electrical schematics and technical documents.
Experience working cross-functionally with teams or vendors.
Experience with material handling systems (conveyors, sortation).
Familiarity with OSHA standards and 5S/lean practices.
Previous leadership or supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot and resolve issues with automation and control systems.
Support conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, and related equipment.
Work with PLCs, VFDs, servo drives, and motor control systems.
Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
Partner with operations and maintenance to improve system performance.
Monitor system metrics and recommend efficiency improvements.
Support installation, upgrades, and maintenance of automation equipment.
Provide technical support and elevate complex issues when needed.
Train and mentor technicians on troubleshooting and best practices.
Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures including PPE requirements to perform the job safely.
