Job summary

Dematic is seeking a Solution Design Controls Engineer to estimate and design controls solutions for material handling systems. The role requires reading schematics, PLC programs, and coordinating with customers and teams across sites.

Responsibilities include developing proposals, improving productivity, and providing training. Travel up to 20% to customer locations in the United States is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Engineering with 5+ years in controls engineering and material handling.
• Experience in designing and commissioning automated material handling systems including electrical design, PLC, HMI, and drives.
• Experience with estimating projects (hours, resources) preferred.
• Proficient with Rockwell Automation PLCs and RSLogix.
• Understanding of serial and Ethernet communications and protocols.
• Experience with conveyance and sortation systems; PLC hardware upgrades and VFD upgrades.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Design and estimate controls solutions for customers.
• Read schematics and PLC programs; follow up on technical details.
• Identify productivity improvements and cost reduction opportunities.
• Provide training and guidance to staff.
• Collaborate with team to resolve complex issues.
• Travel up to 20% to customer sites.
