Job summary

Very Good Manufacturing is seeking a Controls Engineer in Fort Worth, TX to design, program, troubleshoot, and maintain industrial control systems for beverage production equipment. You will work with Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs, read schematics, and support installation and startup.

You should have 2+ years in industrial automation, a related bachelor’s degree, and strong problem-solving and teamwork skills. This role operates on a 9am–5pm schedule with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2+ years in industrial automation and control systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLC platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical wiring for industrial machines.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex control issues independently.
  • Familiarity with HMI development and integration.
  • Knowledge of industrial networking protocols.
  • Familiarity with Ignition SCADA is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Job description

The Controls Engineer will be responsible for designing, programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining industrial control systems primarily utilizing Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs. This role requires strong foundational knowledge in electrical wiring, controls, automation, industrial networking, and excellent problem-solving skills to support our production operations.

Schedule

9am - 5pm, Monday - Friday

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, program, and maintain control systems for beverage production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot PLC systems, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
  • Perform routine system maintenance, ensuring optimal machine performance and reliability.
  • Provide support during installation, commissioning, and startup phases of new equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and machine manuals.
  • Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Continuously improve existing automation and control processes.

Fine print

This position works in and around an active production facility: moving machinery, forklift traffic, glass, and ethanol vapors, with noise and temperature variation. It requires standing, walking, kneeling, climbing ladders, and working in tight or awkward positions for extended periods, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds.
