LVI Associates is assisting a rapidly growing owner/operator of mission-critical infrastructure to hire a Controls Engineer. The role owns industrial control systems across multiple facilities, driving reliability, performance, commissioning and expansion projects.

You'll lead automation efforts, work with operations, engineering teams, contractors, and vendors to develop standards, oversee upgrades, and ensure high-availability environments. Travel up to 40% is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with PLC programming, SCADA, industrial networking, controls architecture, and automation systems.
  • Experience leading projects, vendors, and contractors.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40%.

Responsibilities

  • Lead controls and automation projects from concept through commissioning.
  • Troubleshoot and optimise PLC, SCADA, and industrial control systems.
  • Develop control philosophies, standards, documentation, and operating procedures.
  • Support upgrades, expansions, and capital projects across multiple sites.
  • Manage third-party contractors, vendors, and system integrators.
  • Perform root cause analysis and drive corrective actions for critical system issues.
  • Oversee commissioning, testing, QA/QC, and handover of new systems.
  • Support ongoing maintenance, alarm management, reporting, and system performance improvements.
  • Act as the technical SME for controls and automation across the portfolio.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule supporting 24/7 operations.

We're working with a rapidly growing owner/operator of mission-critical infrastructure looking to add a Controls Engineer to their operations team.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of industrial control systems across multiple critical facilities, helping drive reliability, performance, commissioning, and future expansion projects. You'll work closely with operations, engineering teams, contractors, and vendors to develop standards, lead automation projects, and support the ongoing evolution of highly resilient infrastructure environments.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Up to 40% travel.
Highly Desirable
  • Data Center or Mission-Critical facility experience.
  • Experience commissioning complex automation and control systems.
  • Exposure to mechanical plant controls, cooling systems, power monitoring, or critical infrastructure environments.
  • Knowledge of Modbus, BACnet, and industrial communication protocols.
