Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Controls Engineer to support an industrial sales and service distributor client in Gallatin, TN or Greenwood, IN. You will program, commission, startup, test and troubleshoot industrial automation systems with a strong emphasis on Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLCs.

You will work closely with installation, engineering, operations, maintenance, and customer teams through commissioning, startup, and handoff to operations, maintaining documentation and backups along the way.

Qualifications

• Hands-on controls engineering experience in manufacturing environments.
• PLC programming experience from scratch with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley.
• Experience commissioning, debugging, and startup of automated equipment.
• Experience with capital projects or new system development.
• familiarity with NFPA 79, NEC, UL508A and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Program, commission, start up, test and troubleshoot automation systems.
• Support new equipment installations and production line startups.
• Perform I/O checkout, functional testing, and PLC/HMI validation.
• Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, drives, networks, and safety circuits.
• Maintain controls documentation and backups; support handoff to operations.

Insight Global is looking for a controls engineer to support an industrial sales and service distributor client in Gallatin, TN or Greenwood, IN. This client provides finishing, dispensing, and filtration solutions to manufacturing customers. This controls engineer will support the programming, commissioning, startup, testing, and troubleshooting of industrial automation systems within manufacturing environments.

In this role, the Controls Engineer will program, commission, troubleshoot, and optimize industrial automation systems, with a strong focus on Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLCs. Responsibilities include supporting new equipment installations and production line startups, performing I/O checkout and functional testing, troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, drives, industrial networks, instrumentation, and safety circuits, and supporting capital projects and new system development. The Controls Engineer will work closely with installation, engineering, operations, maintenance, and customer teams throughout the commissioning and startup process. The engineer will also maintain controls documentation and system backups and provide technical support during system handoff to operations and maintenance teams.

Skills and Requirements

• 4+ years of hands-on Controls Engineering or industrial automation experience within manufacturing environments
• 4+ years of PLC programming experience, including programming and developing systems from scratch
• Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation controls
• Experience commissioning, debugging, and starting up automated industrial equipment
• Experience supporting:
  • Manufacturing/production lines
  • Capital equipment or capital projectsNew automated system development and installation
• Experience with industrial paint or finishing systems.
• Siemens or Mitsubishi PLC experience in addition to Rockwell/Allen-Bradley.
• Experience with HMIs, SCADA, VFDs, servo systems, and industrial communication networks.
• Experience with conveyors, curing ovens, paint booths, fluid delivery systems, robotics, or other automated manufacturing equipment.

Familiarity with NFPA 79, NEC, UL508A, lockout/tagout, and machine safety requirements.
