Job summary

C&C Group plc in Lenexa, KS is seeking a Controls Engineer to support installation, programming, commissioning, and ongoing service of DDC and building automation systems. This role works with customers and internal teams to deliver fully functional systems that meet project requirements and company standards.

Ideal candidates will have an associate degree and at least 5 years of HVAC/building automation experience, strong ability to read plans and control drawings, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in HVAC systems, temperature controls or building automation.
• Strong ability to read and interpret plans, specifications and control drawings.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Perform end-to-end testing, programming, startup, commissioning, and service on assigned projects.
• Interpret control drawings, plans, and specs to mount, assemble, test, and program building automation systems.
• Analyze, diagnose, and repair DDC systems at customer sites.
• Perform preventative maintenance, site surveys, and system modifications as requested.
• Coordinate project activities with project managers, engineers, and field teams.
• Provide customer training and technical support as needed.
• Maintain strong customer relationships by addressing concerns and ensuring satisfaction.

Role Overview

Our current opening is for a Controls Engineer. This role is responsible for providing high-quality service, ensuring customer satisfaction, and supporting the installation, programming, commissioning, and ongoing service of DDC and building automation systems. This position works closely with customers and internal teams to deliver fully functional systems that meet project requirements and C&C Group standards.

Ideal Candidate Responsibilities

• Perform end-to-end system testing, programming downloads, startup, commissioning, and service on assigned projects.
• Interpret control drawings, plans, and specifications to mount, assemble, test, and program building automation systems.
• Analyze, diagnose, and repair direct digital control (DDC) systems at customer locations.
• Perform preventative maintenance, site surveys, system replacements, and modifications as requested.
• Prepare for on-site work by reviewing building layouts, anticipating challenges, gathering materials, and coordinating project activities.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure accurate execution of project scope.
• Provide customer training and technical support as needed.
• Maintain strong customer relationships by addressing concerns, implementing solutions, and ensuring overall satisfaction.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree from a two-year college or technical school, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC systems, temperature controls, or building automation systems.
• Demonstrated experience with PCs, networks, databases, and operating systems.
• Strong ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and control drawings.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background investigation, including criminal and motor vehicle checks.
