Job summary

TGW Logistics in Kansas City is looking for a mid-level Controls Commissioning Engineer. In this role, you will design and integrate control systems for industrial solutions, traveling frequently to customer sites for commissioning activities.

The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in a Controls-related field and 2-4 years of hands-on experience in Controls Engineering. The position offers comprehensive benefits and a competitive pay structure.

• Two to four years of hands-on Controls Engineering experience, preferably in material-handling.
• Ability to travel 80% – 90%, domestically and internationally.
• Thorough knowledge of PLCs and HMI systems.
• Solid understanding of electrical and mechanical principles.

Job description

The mid-level Controls Commissioning Engineer works with a team of Controls Commissioning Engineers to design and integrate controls systems for industrial material-handling solutions and production lines. The Controls Commissioning Engineer travels regularly to job sites (customer facilities) to support the onsite commissioning of TGW’s material-handling solutions.

What you’ll be handling

• Assists in the design, development, and commissioning of control systems using PLCs and HMIs to meet project requirements
• Writes and debugs PLC code and HMI applications to ensure proper functioning of control systems
• Integrates control systems with other components such as sensors, actuators, and communication networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, etc.)
• Conducts in-house emulation testing to verify system performance and troubleshoot any issues that arise prior to going onsite for commissioning
• Provides support for installed systems, performing preventative maintenance and implementing system upgrades as required

What you’ll need

• Bachelor’s degree in Controls-related field (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science) or equivalent work experience.
• Two (2) to four (4) years of hands‑on Controls Engineering experience, preferably in material-handling, industrial, or warehouse environment.
• Ability to travel 80% – 90%, domestically and internationally.
• Thorough knowledge of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMI (Human‑Machine Interface) systems
• Solid understanding of electrical and mechanical principles, with the ability to read e‑drawings and AutoCAD drawings
