Job summary

The LEGO Group in Virginia's manufacturing site is seeking a Controls Technician to troubleshoot and validate automated systems, address faults, and support continuous improvement across operations.

You will work with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and OT teams, troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, robots, and vision systems, and help ensure safe, reliable production through documentation and adherence to safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience supporting industrial automation or control systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control drawings.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLC, HMI, robotic, and industrial automation systems.
  • Understanding of industrial communication networks and automation devices.
  • Knowledge of automated manufacturing processes and machine sequences of operation.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation practices.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and validate the operation of automated manufacturing systems.
  • Investigate automation-related production issues, recurring faults, nuisance stops, and abnormal equipment behavior.
  • Validate machine sequences and verify that automated systems are operating as intended.
  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and OT teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, robots, vision systems, sensors, and industrial communication networks.
  • Support equipment startup, recovery, and operational validation following maintenance activities and system changes.
  • Verify proper interaction between machines, operators, and automation systems.
  • Support implementation and validation of approved controls and automation improvements.
  • Assist with testing, commissioning, and system upgrade activities.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of troubleshooting activities, system changes, and corrective actions.
  • Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and investigations involving automation systems.
  • Follow all plant safety requirements, including LOTO, arc-flash, and electrical safety procedures.
