Job summary

Professional Placement Services, LLC seeks an experienced Controls Operations Manager to lead its Controls & Automation function. This hands-on leadership role guides shop-based and field teams, providing technical leadership in PLCs, HMI/SCADA, industrial networks, instrumentation, and automated piping/process systems.

The role drives People, P&L, Process, and Systems performance, building strong teams, improving processes, managing projects, and delivering financial and operational results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Industrial Automation or related field.
• 5–8+ years of controls/automation experience with supervisory experience.
• Strong hands-on PLC programming experience with major platforms (Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, DeltaV).
• Experience developing or supporting HMI and SCADA systems.
• Knowledge of industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Modbus) and reading electrical schematics.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop controls engineers, automation technicians, programmers, and field personnel.
• Directly manage and develop the Panel & Field Operations Manager.
• Build a strong, accountable, and collaborative team.
• Oversee design, programming, integration, commissioning, and maintenance of control systems.
• Coordinate scheduling, procurement, staffing, production, field installation and commissioning.
• Reduce rework and improve project performance and profitability.
