Job summary

West Yost is seeking an OTCR Technical Specialist IV (Controls & Automation) in Lake Oswego, OR. You will lead planning, design, programming, and delivery of industrial control systems, focusing on PLC/SCADA design, control strategy development, and cyber-informed engineering principles.

You will mentor staff, engage with clients, and support business development while ensuring resilient, secure infrastructure. Hybrid work arrangement with three days in-office and two remote days.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline required.
• 7+ years of experience in PLC and SCADA system design and programming.
• Experience with major PLC platforms (Rockwell, Schneider, Siemens).
• Experience with SCADA/HMI platforms (Ignition, Wonderware/AVEVA, FactoryTalk).
• Working knowledge of SQL databases and industrial historians.

Responsibilities

• Leads planning, design, programming, and delivery of industrial control systems.
• Designs PLC logic and HMI applications for water and wastewater processes.
• Develops SCADA standards for consistency, scalability, and reliability.
• Develops control strategies including PID, sequencing, interlocks, redundancy, and fail-safe systems.
• Coordinates with electrical engineers to align instrumentation and automation system design.
• Leads and mentors technical staff and supports project teams.
