Job summary

The Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource (SSRL) at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory has an opening for a Project Engineer with expertise in controls engineering and Python-based real-time data handling. You will unify and extend open source tools, develop data analysis pipelines, and contribute to autonomous experimentation at the synchrotron.

You’ll work with leading researchers to deploy machine learning for autonomous data analysis and experimental control, with responsibilities

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, software engineering or related field and experience with controls engineering.
• Strong knowledge of at least one programming language (e.g., Python).
• Some familiarity with electronics controls systems.
• Experience with user experience design and implementation.
• Current knowledge of latest software and design standards.

Responsibilities

• Implement modern electronics controls software like EPICS for controlling complex instrumentation.
• Deploy the Bluesky data collection framework at SSRL beamlines.
• Execute programming tasks: programming, analyzing, designing, developing, implementing, maintaining software.
