Job summary
SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory’s SSRL seeks a Controls and Protection Systems Engineer to safeguard beam operations while advancing motion control and experimental instrumentation. You will collaborate with scientists and staff to design, test, and install protective interlocks and control electronics.
The role emphasizes developing operator interfaces and production-grade software, with opportunities to contribute across hardware and software domains in a cutting-edge accelerator
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering or related field.
- Experience troubleshooting complex systems in mixed-technology environments.
- Experience documenting engineering changes and SOPs.
- Experience developing HMIs/ GUIs/ dashboards using Python or similar.
Responsibilities
- Provide 24/7 on-call support for protection systems during beam operations.
- Troubleshoot and validate interlocks with motion control and instrumentation.
- Develop motion control systems and experimental instrumentation with scientists.
- Create production HMIs, GUIs, and dashboards for control systems.
