Jay's is seeking a high-caliber Controller to own the financial heartbeat of our NC/VA operations. You will oversee payroll, AP, AR, and HR, report to ownership, and drive planning, forecasting, and reporting to fuel growth. This leadership seat requires clean books and strong team development.

Salary range is $90K-$130K with bonuses; includes company-paid medical/life insurance and 401(k) with up to 3% match. Office-based, Mt Airy HQ, Monday–Friday, no nights or on-call.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum 5 years progressive accounting experience, incl. 3+ years in a Controller/Accounting Manager role.
• GAAP knowledge and strong internal controls.
• Experience supervising multi-state payroll (NC & VA) and HR.
• Strong communication skills and ability to present financial information to leaders.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and QuickBooks or similar software.
• Proven track record in training and developing people.

Responsabilités

• Own month-end and year-end close; deliver accurate P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements monthly.
• Produce department-level financials (HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, and Sewer) and track margins vs. budget.
• Lead budgeting, forecasts, and cash management; guide ownership on pricing and growth.
• Oversee AP, AR, payroll, and HR; manage multi-location finance and operations.
• Ensure internal controls; coordinate tax planning with outside CPA.
• Develop and coach AP/AR/payroll/HR teams; uphold KPIs and performance reviews.
