Job summary

Jay's Heating, Air & Plumbing is seeking a high-caliber Controller to own the financial heartbeat of the company. You will oversee payroll, AP, AR, and HR across NC and VA, and serve as a trusted partner to ownership for financial planning, forecasting, and reporting.

This is a leadership role focused on clean books, on-time closes, and building a strong team. Salary is $90K–$130K with bonuses, DOE, and benefits including medical, life, dental, vision, and a 401(k) match.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years progressive accounting experience, 3+ years as Controller/Accounting Manager.
• Experience overseeing AP, AR, payroll for multi-state.
• GAAP, internal controls, and tax compliance understanding.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end and year-end close with accurate P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow.
• Produce department-level financials for HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Sewer and track margin vs budget.
• Build and manage annual budget, forecasts, and cash management; advise on pricing and capex.
• Oversee AP/AR/payroll and HR teams across NC & VA and ensure timely processing.
• Shape company culture and lead teams toward KPIs and ongoing development.
