Job summary

Uptown OKC Consulting seeks an experienced Controller to lead its accounting and finance function in Oklahoma City. This hands‑on role offers ownership on the senior leadership team and requires managing month‑end closes, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow across multiple entities.

You will oversee a small accounting team, coordinate payroll with the PEO, and ensure tax coordination and audits are handled efficiently. Remote work is limited to 1 day/week after ramping up.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• Insurance‑industry experience preferred.
• 7+ years in progressive accounting roles with leadership.
• Hands‑on ownership of close, reporting, budgeting, forecasting and audits.
• Ability to lead and develop a small team and maintain executive presence.

Responsibilities

• Own month‑end close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cash flow.
• Oversee AP/AR, tax coordination, audits and insurance compliance.
• Lead a small accounting and administrative team.
• Manage multi‑entity accounting and light admin/facilities oversight.
• Coordinate payroll, benefits with the PEO and HR/compliance matters.
• Engage in leadership meetings to shape company strategy.

Onsite, Monday–Friday (potential for 1 remote day/week once established)

A well-established consulting firm in Uptown Oklahoma City is seeking a hands‑on Controller to lead its accounting and finance function. This is a true ownership role, with a seat on a small senior leadership team.

What You'll Do

• Own month‑end close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, AP/AR, tax coordination, audits, and insurance‑related compliance
• Lead and develop a small accounting and administrative team
• Oversee accounting across multiple entities, plus light administrative and facilities oversight
• Manage commission accounting, contracts, and related agency/vendor matters
• Coordinate payroll and benefits administration with the company's PEO, including enrollment, eligibility, and renewals
• Serve as the main point of contact for HR, payroll, benefits, and compliance matters
• Participate in leadership meetings to help shape company strategy

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• Insurance‑industry experience
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2–5 years in leadership
• Hands‑on ownership of close, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, AP/AR, compliance, and audit/tax coordination
• Proven ability to lead and develop a small team
• Strong technical skills, sound judgment, discretion, and executive presence
• Ability to work onsite in Uptown OKC
