Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Controller to take ownership of the accounting and finance function within a growing manufacturing company. You will partner with the President/GM on financial planning, reporting, cash flow, and performance while leading the accounting team and building scalable processes.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, GAAP expertise, and manufacturing accounting background, including inventory, variances, and COGS.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Prior Controller or Accounting Manager experience in manufacturing.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and full-cycle accounting.
• Experience leading a month-end close and producing financial statements.
• Manufacturing accounting including inventory, standard costing, COGS and variances.
• ERP/accounting systems such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Dynamics, SAP, or similar.
• Strong Excel skills and ability to work with large data sets.
• Experience managing and developing an accounting team.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to partner with non-financial leaders.

Responsibilities

• Own the company's day-to-day accounting and finance operations.
• Lead and develop the accounting team and establish clear processes and accountability.
• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Oversee the general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, fixed assets, and reconciliations.
• Prepare and present monthly financial statements and management reporting.
• Develop meaningful reporting around margins, profitability, costs, and operational performance.
• Partner with the President/GM on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial planning.
• Build and maintain cash flow forecasts and identify cash needs.
• Oversee inventory accounting, costing, and reconciliations.
• Analyze labor, material, overhead, and production costs with operations.
• Monitor manufacturing variances and improve margins and profitability.
• Establish and strengthen internal controls, policies, and processes.
• Identify opportunities to automate and improve workflows.
• Support annual audits, tax filings, banking relationships, and external requirements.
• Partner with CPAs, tax advisors, auditors, and financial partners.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and provide financial insights for decisions.
• Help build the financial infrastructure to support growth.

Job Details

The Controller will oversee all accounting operations while partnering closely with the President/GM on financial planning, reporting, cash flow, and business performance. This person will lead the accounting team, own the month-end close, strengthen internal controls, and develop processes that can scale with the company.

The ideal candidate is both a strong technical accountant and a commercially minded business partner—someone who can dive into the details while also helping leadership understand the financial story behind the numbers.

What You'll Do

• Partner directly with the President/GM on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial planning
• Build and maintain cash flow forecasts and proactively identify potential cash needs
• Oversee inventory accounting, costing, and inventory reconciliations
• Partner with operations and manufacturing leadership to analyze labor, material, overhead, and production costs
• Monitor manufacturing variances and identify opportunities to improve margins and profitability
• Establish and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial processes
• Identify opportunities to automate and improve existing accounting workflows
• Support annual audits, tax filings, banking relationships, and other external financial requirements
• Partner with outside CPAs, tax advisors, auditors, and other financial partners
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable accounting requirements
• Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic and operational decisions
• Help build the financial infrastructure necessary to support continued growth

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Prior Controller or Accounting Manager experience, ideally within a manufacturing environment
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Strong understanding of GAAP and full-cycle accounting
• Experience leading a month-end close and producing accurate financial statements
• Manufacturing accounting experience, including inventory, standard costing, COGS, and manufacturing variances
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Dynamics, SAP, or similar
