Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Controller to own accounting operations and financial reporting across the US and Mexico, reporting to the CFO and based onsite in Irvine, CA. The role includes direct leadership of a ~10-person team and interaction with private equity sponsors as part of a comprehensive turnaround and growth plan.

The position offers a base salary of $185,000 to $200,000 plus a 20% target bonus and equity participation, along with full benefits and 3 weeks of vacation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• 7+ years of progressive general and accounting experience.
• Exceptional knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, cost accounting and controls.
• Experience in a private equity backed environment.
• Experience in a manufacturing company.
• Experience working in a multi-country environment.
• CPA is a strong plus; Spanish language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage general ledger entries and financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
• Conduct 13- and 52-week cash flow analyses and prepare bank reconciliations.
• Ensure accuracy of physical inventory with the Mexico team.
• Oversee tax returns and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
• Lead US and Mexico accounting teams and implement strong internal controls.
• Oversee AP/AR processes and manage payroll including commissions and benefits tracking.
• Support audits and liaise for liability and workers’ comp renewals.
• Develop and implement financial policies and NetSuite configurations.

Salary: $180,000 - $200,000 per year

Reporting directly to the CFO and based onsite at the Irvine, CA office, the Controller will own accounting operations and financial reporting across the US and Mexico, with routine travel (a few days at a time) to the company's manufacturing plant in Mexico.

Backed by private equity since 2022, the company is executing an ambitious turnaround and growth plan that includes new brand partnerships and a targeted sale of the business within the next few years. They are hiring a Controller to serve as the senior accounting leader across their North American operations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage general ledger entries and financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
• Conduct 13- and 52-week cash flow analyses and prepare bank reconciliations to guide decision-making
• Ensure accuracy of physical inventory, including full-cycle inventory counts with the Mexico team
• Oversee the preparation and filing of tax returns and ensure compliance with all applicable tax regulations
• Lead and develop the US and Mexico accounting teams, implementing systems of checks and balances and cross-training across the department
• Actively lead AP and AR processes, and manage weekly and semi-monthly payroll including commissions, allowances, tax filings, and benefits tracking
• Support third-party audits and serve as the primary liaison for liability and workers’ compensation insurance renewals
• Develop and implement financial policies and accounting procedures that strengthen internal efficiency and compliance
• Act as department administrator of NetSuite, configuring the system to maximize accuracy and effectiveness

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• 7 or more years of progressive general and accounting experience
• Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and GAAP
• Experience in a private equity backed environment
• Experience in a manufacturing company
• Experience working in a multi-country environment
• Proficiency with MS Office and ERP accounting systems
• Excellent written and verbal communication, strong analytical ability, and attention to detail
• CPA is a strong plus, as is a public accounting foundation
• NetSuite and Spanish language skills are a plus
