Job summary

Northeast Kingdom Human Services (NKHS) seeks an experienced Controller to lead financial operations. Reporting to the CFO, you will manage the monthly close, prepare financial statements, and oversee the Business Office including accounting, cash receipts, and accounts payable.

This role emphasizes leadership, accuracy, and GAAP-compliant reporting. You will supervise staff, coordinate audits, and ensure timely financial reporting to the finance committee and Board.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration.
• 6+ years of related experience.
• CPA or CMA designation a plus.
• Excellent management and supervisory skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in accounting software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Manage General Ledger accounting system and journal entries.
• Prepare monthly financial reports for finance committee, Board, and State Partners.
• Review agency grant revenue and accounts payable processes.
• Supervise accounting and payroll staff; coach and develop team.
• Assist in annual audit and preparation of 1099s for IRS compliance.
