Job summary

Alta E&I is seeking a strategic Controller to oversee accounting operations, reporting directly to the CFO, with visibility to senior leadership and growth opportunities.

You will lead the accounting team, manage general ledger, payroll, billing, project accounting, and internal controls for a project-based professional services firm.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience managing month-end and year-end close processes.
• Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks Enterprise and Deltek ERP systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

Responsibilities

• Lead all day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll oversight, fixed assets, and cash management.
• Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Manage monthly close processes and ensure adherence to established timelines.
• Oversee project accounting processes and revenue recognition for engineering, environmental, surveying, and testing service lines.
• Ensure contract compliance and accurate client invoicing.
• Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
• Coordinate annual financial reviews and support tax accountants.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team.
• Monitor accounts receivable collections and billing performance.
• Support banking relationships and treasury management activities.
