Babbitting Service, Inc. (BSI) in South Elgin, IL is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead the Accounting Department and partner with the CFO on financial reporting, budgeting, and strategic planning.

This on-site role oversees AP, AR, payroll, and audits for 75–200 employees, with 5+ years of accounting and at least 3 years in a leadership capacity. The position offers a salary range of $100,000–$125,000 (DOE) and a Monday–Friday schedule.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3–5 years of direct accounting experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Active CPA certification.
• BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency and familiarity with payroll/HRIS platforms such as Paylocity, Bamboo, Paychex, QuickBooks, and/or ADP.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Accounting Department and support the CFO with financial reporting, budgeting, and strategic planning.
• Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of all accounting functions.
• Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions performed by clerks.
• Prepare and present monthly AP/AR and month-end/quarter/year-end financial reports.
• Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual budgeting; collaborate with Purchasing and management teams.
• Manage payroll processing and lead workers’ compensation and other audits.
