Job summary

ClearShark LLC in Chantilly, VA, is hiring a Federal Controller to lead accounting, finance, and related functions in a hybrid on-site role 3–4 days per week. The position requires 10+ years of accounting experience, knowledge of GAAP, SEC rules, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, plus Deltek Costpoint expertise.

You will drive month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, and coordination with auditors, while guiding a growing Federal finance team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree / MBA or practical equivalent.
• 10+ years of solid accounting experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP, SEC rules including Sarbanes Oxley compliance.
• 5-10 years progressive accounting experience managing/maintaining Deltek Costpoint ERP system.
• Hands-on knowledge of DCAA compliance standards, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and FAR.
• Ability to demonstrate leadership, creativity, and initiative.
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
• Experience with creating financial statements.
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close.
• Strong accounting software user and administration skills.
• Experience working with senior management leadership and ability to influence others cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the operations of the accounting, finance, and related functions.
• Responsible for building and developing accounting policies and procedures.
• Oversee month-end close process, including review of reconciliations, fluctuation analysis, and identification and research of accounting issues.
• Coordinate, analyze, and report financial performance to management.
• Oversee payments of all accounts.
• Monitor working capital and funding balances.
• Recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance of company divisions.
• Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget.
• Manage the preparation of the financial statements and notes thereto.
• Manage the external auditors.
• Represent finance in the identification and implementation of new systems and upgrade of existing systems.
• Prepare financial analysis for contract negotiations and investment decisions.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and principles.
• Responsible for leading and managing the Federal Finance and Accounting team.
