Job summary

Optiv + ClearShark is seeking a Sr. Cribl Engineer to join our cybersecurity team in the United States. The role will be the most senior engineer on projects, mentoring Associate, Level I, and Level II Engineers while interacting with clients and engineers in leadership capacity.

You will lead discussions, drive Cribl deployments, and oversee technical strategies, timecards, and project progress. Strong communication and leadership across security concepts are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
  • 7–10 years of related work experience preferred.
  • Experience leading an engineering team and mentoring junior staff.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Experience operating in cybersecurity environments and with SIEM tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of Associate, Level I, and Level II Engineers.
  • Manage day-to-day project tasks and client communications.
  • Define and drive technical strategies for Cribl deployments.
  • Lead technical discussions with clients and translate requirements into tasks.
  • Review work and performance of team members and provide feedback.
  • Ensure alignment with SOPs, timecards, and project budgets.

Job description

Optiv + ClearShark is looking for a highly skilled Sr. Cribl Engineer to join our cybersecurity team.

To be successful in this role, the Sr. Cribl Engineer will be expected to not only maintain a mastery in a capability aligned with Optiv + ClearShark's service practices, but also developing pathways towards future opportunities they would like to explore.

Additionally, they will be expected not only to execute all tasks provided in a statement of work, but also be expected to lead a team of Associate, Level I, and Level II Engineers in their day-to-day operations and career development.

This individual will be the most senior engineer on a project and will be expected to assist Associate, Level I, and Level II Engineers with tasking. Excellent communication skills along with sufficient leadership skills are essential for this role, as these individuals will interact with clients and engineers regularly in a leadership capacity.

How you’ll make an impact
  • Execute all tasks outlined in the scope of work and follow standard operating procedures with no direct oversight.
  • Lead discussions with clients to analyze and understand their needs and objectives.
  • Aid Associate, Level I, and Level II Engineers on sophisticated tasking.
  • Lead technical discussions with the client to understand their engineering requirements.
  • Lead the technical support strategy for clients during and after project implementation.
  • Serve as the escalation level for complex issues as necessary.
  • Document project progress, issues, and resolutions in a concise and timely manner.
  • Consistently self-review work to identify and improve approaches for producing high-quality work.
  • Review work of Associate, Level I, and Level II Engineers to assist in their approach for producing high-quality work.
  • Monitor and approve timecards and expense reports for team members.
  • Serve as a level of mentorship for Associate, Level I, and Level II Engineers.
  • Perform annual performance reviews for each team member, as well as quarterly feedback sessions.
  • Report any issues with the team to senior leadership, as well as any kudos or positive feedback.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction.
  • Adhere to availability standards for responding to client inquiries.
  • Lead the communication of technical concepts effectively to clients.
  • Identify and communicate cross-sell and up-sell opportunities with the account team across services.
  • Demonstrate proactive engagement in obtaining and maintaining certifications and cultivating technical proficiency in accordance with industry standards.
  • Provide input to leadership on needed training and development.
  • Proactively engage with mentors for assistance and guidance as necessary.
  • Provide training opportunities to team members in various growth areas.
  • Contribute to thought leadership exercises about Optiv + ClearShark’s services portfolio, to include but not limited to: blog posts, social media engagement, workshops, and panels.
  • Oversee the creation of new Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Provide senior leadership with areas of opportunity to expand the Optiv + ClearShark services portfolio.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
What we’re looking for
  • Currently holds a TS/SCI with CI polygraph.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related area required.
  • 7-10 years of related work experience required.
  • Experience operating in classified environments.
  • Robust understanding of identity, SIEM, cybersecurity, and infrastructure concepts.
  • List specific technologies applicable to the role we are hiring for Strong understanding of governance and compliance, specifically with FAR, DFARs, CUI and CMMC.
  • Broad understanding of FedRAMP and IL constructs.
  • Strong understanding of leadership concepts and ideas.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Experience leading an engineering team, preferably having handled tasking, resolving personnel issues, and providing actionable feedback.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex messages to a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel to meet client needs.
