Job summary

Optiv Federal Inc. is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting, finance, and related functions in a hybrid role with on-site work in Chantilly, VA 3-4 days weekly.

You will develop accounting policies, manage month-end close, oversee external auditors, and ensure DCAA/CAS/FAR compliance while guiding a Federal Finance team through system upgrades and strategic financial analyses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree / MBA or practical equivalent.
• 10+ years of solid accounting experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP, SEC rules and regulations, including Sarbanes Oxley compliance.
• 5-10 years progressive accounting experience managing/maintaining Deltek Costpoint ERP system.
• Hands-on knowledge of DCAA compliance standards, CAS, and the FAR.
• Ability to demonstrate leadership, creativity, and initiative.
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
• Experience with creating financial statements.
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close.
• Strong accounting software user and administration skills.
• Experience working with senior management leadership and ability to influence cross-functionally.
• Experience leading and managing people and direct reports is required.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for building and developing accounting policies and procedures.
• Oversee month-end close, including review of reconciliations and fluctuation analysis.
• Coordinate, analyze, and report financial performance to management.
• Oversee payments of all accounts.
• Monitor working capital and funding balances.
• Recommend benchmarks for measuring financial and operating performance.
• Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget.
• Manage the preparation of financial statements and notes.
• Manage the external auditors.
• Represent finance in system upgrades and new implementations.
• Prepare financial analysis for contract negotiations and investments.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and principles.
• Lead and manage the Federal Finance and Accounting team.

Job description

This is a hybrid position, with the expectation of being on-site at our Chantilly, VA office 3-4 times a week. The Optiv + ClearShark Federal Controller directs all accounting functions including establishing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives, and preparation of financial reports. This position reports to the Optiv + ClearShark President with indirect reporting to the Optiv Finance leadership team.

What we're looking for
