Job summary

The Greene Group, a dynamic entertainment and media company in New York City, seeks a Controller for a newly created role reporting to the VP of Finance. This position manages divisional accounting, closes, and controls within a NetSuite environment.

You will oversee accounting functions, coordinate audits, and lead budgeting and forecasting while partnering with business leadership to optimize profitability and liquidity. A CPA and 5+ years of relevant experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; private-equity-backed or high-growth experience is a plus.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and ASC 606 revenue recognition experience.
• Advanced Excel skills and NetSuite familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Oversee AP, AR, payroll, and expenses in coordination with a shared-services function.
• Prepare GAAP financials, variance analyses, and leadership reports.
• Coordinate audit and tax support with corporate finance and external advisors.

• Analyze revenue, margins, and client profitability; provide actionable insights.
• Manage cash-flow planning for liquidity and working capital efficiency.

Our client is one of Hollywood's fastest growing media and entertainment companies with offices in NYC that is now looking to bring on a Controller in a newly-created role that will report into the VP of Finance. NetSuite environment.

OFFICES IN NYC // 4 DAYS ONSITE

Key Responsibilities

• Own divisional accounting and financial operations, including monthly/quarterly/annual close, commission calculations, tax coordination, and treasury management
• Oversee AP, AR, payroll, and expense processes in coordination with a shared-services function
• Prepare and review GAAP financial statements, variance analyses, and management reporting packages for division leadership
• Coordinate audit and tax support with corporate finance and external advisors; provide schedules and responses to inquiries
• Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process and update rolling financial forecasts to align with strategic objectives
• Partner with business leaders to analyze revenue, margins, and client profitability; deliver actionable recommendations
• Manage divisional cash-flow planning to ensure operational liquidity and optimal working capital
• Support NetSuite ERP configuration, reporting, and integrations as part of the broader platform strategy
• Establish and maintain strong internal controls to protect assets and ensure financial accuracy
• Provide financial input for contract negotiations, collections strategy, and business development opportunities

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent preferred
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; background in professional services, media, talent management, sports, or agency settings strongly preferred
• Thorough understanding of GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition
• Experience in a private-equity-backed or high-growth environment is a plus
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to translate financial data into business insight
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across finance and business partner
• Advanced Excel skills and hands‑on experience with NetSuite preferred
