Job summary

Ledgent Finance & Accounting in Englewood, CO seeks a hands-on Controller to lead all accounting operations, close processes, and financial reporting. This role will oversee GAAP compliance, internal controls, and collaborate with executive leadership on financial strategy.

First 90 days onsite, then hybrid 1–2 days remote per week. In addition to overseeing budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning, the candidate will manage a team of three finance professionals and drive process

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
  • Previous Controller, Assistant Controller, Finance Manager, or similar leadership experience.
  • Proven experience managing and developing employees.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and compliance.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and ERP system experience.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to influence and partner with leaders across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the finance lead for ERP and accounting system optimization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Leadership & Reporting

  • Support financial risk management initiatives.
Tax & Compliance
  • Oversee tax compliance activities, including sales/use tax, property tax, and income tax matters.
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors.
  • Ensure timely and accurate regulatory filings and reporting.
  • Maintain supporting documentation and compliance procedures.
ERP Systems & Process Improvement
  • Serve as the finance lead for ERP and accounting system optimization.
  • Ensure financial data accuracy and integrity across systems.
  • Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and operational efficiencies.
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls.
Audit & Internal Controls
  • Coordinate annual audits and financial reviews.
  • Strengthen internal control processes and financial governance.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and financial procedures.
  • Implement recommendations resulting from audit findings.
Team Leadership
  • Directly manage and mentor a team of three finance professionals.
  • Conduct performance management, coaching, and employee development activities.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish goals and priorities for the finance department.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
