Job summary

Strategic Employment Partners (SEP) in Denver seeks a high-visibility Controller to own the accounting operation. You will lead a team of 5-6 accountants, overseeing month-end closes, financial reporting, tenant billing, CAM reconciliations, and treasury activities from the Denver office.

The ideal candidate has several years of property portfolio accounting, proven leadership, and a degree in accounting or finance (CPA preferred).

Qualifications

• Several years of accounting for commercial property portfolios; retail a plus.
• Experience leading and coaching an accounting team.
• CPA or degree in accounting/finance; CPA a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end close and financial reporting across a portfolio of property-level entities.
• Oversee tenant billing, recoveries, and CAM true-ups.
• Manage treasury activities including collections, payables, and bank relations.
• Provide accounting support for ground-up and redevelopment projects, including lender draws and budgets.
• Develop and implement stronger processes as the portfolio grows.

Established, stable, and growing Commercial Real Estate firm is looking for a Controller. You'll lead the full accounting operation from the Denver office, supported by a team of 5-6 accountants you'll develop and guide.

What you own:

• Month-end close and financial reporting across a portfolio of property-level entities
• Tenant billing, recoveries, and annual CAM true-ups
• Treasury activity including collections, payables, and bank activity
• Accounting support for ground-up and redevelopment projects, including lender draws and project budgets
• Building better processes as the portfolio expands

What you bring:

• Comfort with a fast pace, a heavy workload, and working closely with principals
• Willingness to be in the Denver office full time and travel to a regional office periodically
