Job summary

ORW | 4WP is seeking a strategic Controller to lead accounting operations at the Gardena corporate office. You will supervise GL, payroll, AR/AP, and inventory, ensuring GAAP-compliant reporting. Collaborate with the CFO on budgeting, cash flow, and audits.

You’ll drive internal controls, multi-location accounting, and ERP optimization while guiding a team through performance evaluations and process improvements.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership exposure.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Direct all accounting operations including GL, AP, AR, payroll, assets, inventory.
• Manage month-end and year-end close and ensure accurate reporting.
• Prepare internal and external financial statements per U.S. GAAP.
• Develop and monitor internal controls, policies, and workflows.
• Oversee inventory accounting across retail and distribution.
• Coordinate internal and external audits.
• Partner with CFO on budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow, and variance analysis.
• Provide strategic financial analysis to support decisions.

Job Details

Job Location: Corporate Office - Gardena, CA 90248, Position Type: Full Time, Salary Range: $150,000.00 - $170,000.00 Salary/year, We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Controller to lead and manage the company’s accounting operations. This position is responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, managing internal controls, and supporting the organization’s financial strategy. The Controller will serve as a key leader within the Finance Department and work closely with executive management and department leaders.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct all accounting operations, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, fixed assets, inventory accounting, and account reconciliations
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
• Prepare and review internal and external financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
• Develop, document, implement, and monitor internal controls, accounting policies, procedures, and workflows to protect company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting
• Oversee inventory accounting, including valuation, reserves, reconciliations, and related controls across retail and distribution operations
• Coordinate audits (internal and external) and ensure timely completion
• Partner with the CFO and department leaders on annual budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow planning, and variance analysis
• Provide strategic financial analysis and recommendations to support business decision-making
• Monitor cash-management activities and support banking, treasury, and working-capital initiatives
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local tax requirements and coordinate with external tax advisors on the preparation and filing of returns
• Oversee accounting activities for multiple locations, departments, and legal entities
• Recruit, lead, coach, and develop the accounting team, including setting performance expectations and conducting performance evaluations
• Support implementation and optimization of financial systems and ERP platforms
• Collaborate with other departments to align financial planning with organizational goals
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree or MBA preferred)
• CPA designation strongly preferred
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or management role
• In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance
• Proficiency in accounting and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel
• Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
• High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information
• Experience in a multi-location, multi-entity, retail, distribution, or inventory-based organization, preferred

This position primarily operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment. Schedule and Travel
