Role Description

The Controller is a full-time role based in West Palm Beach, FL, responsible for overseeing the financial operations of a growing multistate staffing organization. This role will take ownership of financial reporting, P&L management, margin analysis, payroll oversight, cash flow, vendor relationships, collections support, and financial controls. The Controller will work closely with sales and operations leadership to provide financial insight that supports business growth and strategic decision-making. This position is well suited for an experienced finance leader who can take ownership of the function, as well as a strong Senior Accountant or finance professional ready to grow into a Controller-level role with the appropriate support.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of experience in a Controller, Senior Accounting, or finance leadership role, preferably within a staffing firm or an accounting firm servicing staffing clients.


• Demonstrated experience managing P&Ls, analyzing margins, and providing financial reporting and variance analysis in a service-based or labor-intensive business.


• Experience working across multiple states or jurisdictions, ideally within temporary or contract labor.


• Hands-on experience reviewing and approving payroll, particularly for a variable or high-volume temporary workforce.


• Experience managing vendor relationships and contracts, including payroll processors, workers’ compensation carriers, background check providers, and other staffing-related vendors.


• Experience partnering with or overseeing collections functions, including accounts receivable aging, cash flow, and client payment issues.


• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to translate financial information into actionable insights for leadership.


• Experience with financial modeling, due diligence, M&A integration, or related strategic finance initiatives is a plus.


• Ability to build and refine financial controls, processes, reporting systems, and accounting functions as the organization scales.


• Growth-oriented mindset with an interest in expanding responsibilities and eventually mentoring or building a finance/accounting team.


• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA is a plus but not required.


• Strong understanding of staffing-industry economics, including bill/pay margins, workers’ compensation, payroll, vendor relationships, and temporary labor operations is strongly preferred.


• Ability to collaborate effectively with sales, operations, and leadership teams in a growing organization.

Compensation:

$105,000–$120,000 base salary, commensurate with experience.
