Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience with leadership responsibility.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
• Experience managing audits, tax compliance, cash management, and accounting operations.
• Proven leadership, communication, organizational, and process-improvement skills within a fast-paced operational environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations across GL, payables, receivables, payroll, and fixed assets.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports per U.S. GAAP.
• Develop and monitor accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and overall financial operations.
• Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and advisor relationships.

Our client, a manufacturing and industrial services company, is seeking a Controller to lead its accounting and finance operations.

Location

This role is on-site in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Job Description

This highly visible leadership role will oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and day-to-day accounting activities while partnering closely with executive leadership to support long-term growth and financial performance. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader with strong technical expertise and the ability to build processes, develop teams, and provide strategic financial insight.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in accordance with U.S. GAAP
• Develop, implement, and monitor accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes, including budget-to-actual variance analysis
• Oversee cash flow management, banking relationships, and overall financial operations
• Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and relationships with outside accounting and tax advisors
• Maintain accounting systems and identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiency gains, and system enhancements
• Support strategic planning activities by providing financial analysis and recommendations to executive leadership
• Ensure compliance with applicable financial reporting and regulatory requirements
• Manage, mentor, and develop accounting staff while promoting accountability and high performance across the finance organization

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred
• 10+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including leadership responsibility
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls
