THE PORTFOLIO COMPANY
This portfolio company is a commercial and industrial HVAC and mechanical services providers. With over $35M in combined revenue and a goal to exceed $100M in the near term, the company provides high-quality HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical solutions across multiple states. Current holdings include three businesses spanning Illinois, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire, with three more under LOI that could double its presence. The portfolio company targets both organic growth and M&A to scale towards $250M in revenue, integrating acquired businesses into a cohesive operating platform.
The VP of Finance/Controller will be the first corporate-level finance hire, tasked with leading financial integration, consolidation, and reporting across current and future acquisitions. The role requires strong M&A and multi-entity experience, capable of supporting a growing and complex operational structure.
THE PRIVATE EQUITY FIRM
The private equity firm is based in the Northeast US with over $200M in AUM and a focus on B2B services including industrial and technology services. They typically pursue majority acquisitions of founder/family-run companies with revenues between $5M–$100M, applying a flexible capital structure to enable rapid growth through buy-and-build strategies.

This is a roll-up environment demanding high adaptability, independence, and a hands-on leadership approach. The culture across the HVAC platform is growth-oriented and collaborative, with entities ranging in size, location, and operating styles. THE ROLE
The day-to-day role for this position will include the following tasks:
Leading consolidated financial reporting across all business entities.
Managing integration of acquisitions, including ERP transitions and GAAP compliance.
Driving financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
Overseeing financial audit preparation, lender relations, and tax compliance.
Supporting M&A with diligence, valuation analysis, and financial onboarding.
Collaborating with site-level bookkeeping teams to standardize financial practices.

YOUR BACKGROUND
The successful individual will be able to demonstrate experience in the following:
5+ years of experience in multi-entity finance, including M&A integrations.
Experience in fast-growing, PE-backed or entrepreneurial environments.
Strong GAAP knowledge; CPA preferred.
Familiarity with construction/HVAC project-based accounting and ERP systems.
A track record of owning financial reporting, forecasting, and audit readiness.
