Job summary

Building Bright Futures is seeking a Controller to lead our financial operations and ensure accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and grant compliance across the organization. This full-time (1.0 FTE) role reports to the Executive Director and collaborates with the Business Manager and Senior Development Manager to support sustainability and growth.

The position offers a salary of $87,000–$100,000 per year, with flexibility for part-time consideration and a comprehensive benefits package

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or five years of relevant professional experience in accounting or finance; CPA licensure strongly preferred
• A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in nonprofit accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting
• Strong proficiency in QuickBooks, Google Suite, and Microsoft Suite
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data strategically

Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly and annual financial reporting, including statements of financial position, activities, cash flows, and functional expenses
• Provide oversight of restricted and unrestricted fund accounting and ensure grant compliance
• Establish and maintain internal controls, fiscal policies, and risk management practices
• Lead the annual audit and ensure timely, accurate Form 990 filing

About the Position

Building Bright Futures (BBF) seeks a Controller to lead our financial operations and ensure accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and grant compliance across the organization. This full-time (1.0 FTE) position is supervised by the Executive Director and works closely with the Business Manager and Senior Development Manager to support organizational sustainability and growth.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $87,000 – $100,000 annually (full-time), with starting salary dependent on experience. A part-time role will be considered as is feasible. Benefits include generous paid time off (including Fridays off from June through August), health care insurance, dental and vision insurance, retirement, and a monthly remote work stipend.
