Job summary

Ascendo Resources is seeking an experienced Controller to lead day-to-day accounting operations for a growing, multi-entity organization across multiple states. You will oversee the full accounting cycle, ensure timely financial reporting, and provide strong leadership of the accounting function.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Controller-level or senior accounting leadership experience.
• Experience working within a multi-entity and multi-state organization.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, month-end close, and GL accounting.
• Experience with intercompany accounting, consolidations, and multi-entity reporting.
• Proven ability to lead accounting teams and manage deadlines.
• Strong Excel and accounting/ERP system skills.
• CPA or advanced accounting credential is a plus.
• Hands-on, detail-oriented approach in a growing environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close across multiple entities and states.
• Oversee general ledger and consolidate financial results across entities.
• Prepare and review financial statements, reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and schedules.
• Manage intercompany transactions, allocations, reconciliations, and eliminations.
• Oversee accounts payable/receivable, payroll, cash management, and day-to-day accounting.
• Ensure GAAP-compliant operations across multiple states and tax reporting.
• Maintain internal controls and accounting policies in accordance with GAAP.
• Lead cash flow reporting and support budgeting and forecasting.
• Coordinate audits and liaise with external auditors and tax providers.
• Mentor and develop accounting team members and drive process improvements.
• Partner with leadership to improve reporting and financial performance.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes and strengthen controls.

This individual will oversee the full accounting cycle, ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, and provide strong leadership across the accounting function.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader who has experience managing the complexities of multiple legal entities and operations across multiple states.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes across multiple entities and states.
• Oversee the general ledger and ensure accurate consolidation of financial results across all entities.
• Prepare and review financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules.
• Manage intercompany transactions, allocations, reconciliations, and eliminations across multiple entities.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash management, and other day-to-day accounting functions.
• Ensure proper accounting and compliance for operations across multiple states, including applicable tax and reporting requirements.
• Maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures in accordance with GAAP.
• Manage cash flow reporting and support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives.
• Coordinate annual audits and serve as a key point of contact for external auditors, tax providers, and other outside partners.
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members while establishing clear processes and accountability.
• Partner with executive and operational leadership to provide financial insight and improve reporting, processes, and overall financial performance.
• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, strengthen controls, and improve systems as the organization continues to grow.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Strong Controller-level or senior accounting leadership experience.
• Required experience working within a multi-entity and multi-state organization.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, month-end close, and general ledger accounting.
• Experience with intercompany accounting, consolidations, and multi-entity financial reporting.
• Proven ability to lead accounting teams and manage competing deadlines.
• Strong Excel and accounting/ERP system skills.
• CPA or advanced accounting credential is a plus.
• Hands‑on, detail‑oriented approach with the ability to operate effectively in a growing and fast‑paced environment.
