Frontline Source Group - Nationwide Staffing & Executive Search seeks a Controller to own the entire accounting operation for a company with a century of history. You will report to leadership as the financial truth-teller and architect of finance strategy.
You will manage the full accounting cycle, payroll, reconciliations, and financial reporting while building budgets and internal controls. This role blends hands-on work with strategic influence in a growth-focused environment.
Most Controller titles come with an asterisk. You manage a team, you review someone else's work, you own a slice of the function. This one is different. You will be the entire accounting operation for a company with more than 100 years of history, and leadership will look to you, and only you, for the financial truth.
If you have spent your career becoming excellent at both sides of accounting, the hands-on work and the strategic work, this is the rare role where both matter every single day. And if you are tired of companies that treat finance as an afterthought, you will find the opposite here: ownership that wants a true financial partner and is ready to invest in one.
Total ownership. No committees, no layers, no waiting for approval to fix what you know is broken. You build the processes, you set the standards, you own the results.
A blank canvas with real support. This company has never operated with formal budgets. You will build them from the ground up and become the person leadership relies on to decide where to scale and where to pull back. Few roles let you leave this kind of fingerprint.
Room to grow with the business. This is not a role that stays static. As you bring structure to the finances, your scope and influence grow with it, and ownership is looking for someone who wants to help shape the next chapter of the company, not just close the books on the last one.
Stability you can plan a life around. A century of history, a healthy business, and an ownership group looking for someone to grow with them for the long haul. This is a destination role, not a stepping stone.
Respect for how you work. Flexible paid time off, remote or hybrid flexibility, and a culture that trusts professionals to manage their own time.
The Full Accounting Cycle
You will run AR and AP end to end: invoicing, billing, collections, vendor management, and payment processing. You will keep receivables tight, follow up on past-due accounts before they become problems, and make sure leadership never gets surprised.
Payroll
Accurate, on time, and fully compliant with federal, state, and local regulations. You will maintain payroll records, manage deductions, handle inquiries, and reconcile payroll accounts.
Daily Accounting and Reconciliations
Daily data entry done right the first time. Regular reconciliations across bank, credit card, and general ledger accounts. A general ledger and chart of accounts you would be proud to show an auditor on any given day.
Financial Reporting, Budgeting, and Forecasting
Monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Full ownership of month-end and year-end close. Budgets built from scratch with actuals reported against them. Forecasts that tell leadership where the business is headed and clear recommendations on what to do about it.
Banking and External Relationships
You will be the point of contact with banks, managing credit lines and rates, and you will coordinate with the external CPA firm and auditors to keep tax preparation and audit readiness on track.
Process and Structure
Where little structure exists today, you will build repeatable processes and internal controls, then teach the broader team what good financial discipline looks like.
QuickBooks Administration
You will be the in-house QuickBooks authority: setup, maintenance, reporting, troubleshooting, data integrity, and best practices.
WHO THRIVES IN THIS ROLE
You have 10 or more years of progressive, hands‑on accounting experience, and the critical word is hands‑on. Your background includes companies in the $5 million to $30 million revenue range, where you personally did the work rather than reviewed it. If your experience is limited to large organizations with deep accounting departments, this role will not be a fit, and that is by design.
You are an expert in QuickBooks, Desktop or Online, and this is non‑negotiable. You know GAAP cold, you are strong in Excel, and you hold a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA is a plus, not a requirement.
Just as important: you have no ego about the work. Data entry in the morning, a leadership forecast conversation in the afternoon, and you find satisfaction in both. You communicate clearly, you manage your own deadlines without being chased, and you want to plant roots somewhere that values what you bring.
Remote or hybrid. Florida candidates only.
