Job summary

Curtis Food Recruiters is assisting a growing food manufacturing company in Rembrandt, IA in recruiting an experienced Controller to lead its core accounting function and support growth. This on-site role partners with plant operations and senior leadership to strengthen financial reporting and drive cost controls.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of accounting/finance, a manufacturing background (food/CPG preferred), expertise in standard costing, inventory management, and internal controls.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in accounting/finance with Controller exp preferred.
• Strong manufacturing accounting background in food/agriculture/CPG.
• Experience with standard costing and inventory management.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA preferred.
• SAP or similar ERP experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead core accounting functions: GL, AP/AR, financial reporting, and month-end close.
• Oversee manufacturing cost accounting, inventory valuation, standard costing, and variance analysis.
• Strengthen internal controls, accounting processes, and financial reporting accuracy.
• Partner closely with plant operations and senior leadership to provide financial insights and support business decisions.
• Lead the annual audit process and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP.
• Coach and develop an experienced accounting team while identifying opportunities for process improvement and automation.

Our client, a growing food manufacturing company, is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its core accounting function and support continued growth across its manufacturing operations.

This newly created leadership role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by strengthening financial reporting, improving processes and internal controls, and developing an established accounting team. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader with strong manufacturing experience who enjoys partnering with operations, driving efficiencies, and building high-performing teams.

Some responsibilities include:

• Lead core accounting functions, including general ledger, AP/AR, financial reporting, and month-end close.
• Oversee manufacturing cost accounting, inventory valuation, standard costing, and variance analysis.
• Strengthen internal controls, accounting processes, and financial reporting accuracy.
• Partner closely with plant operations and senior leadership to provide financial insights and support business decisions.
• Lead the annual audit process and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP.
• Coach and develop an experienced accounting team while identifying opportunities for process improvement and automation.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience; prior Controller experience strongly preferred.
• Strong manufacturing accounting background, preferably within food, agriculture, consumer products, or process manufacturing.
• Hands-on expertise in standard costing, inventory management, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Proven ability to lead teams and collaborate effectively with plant operations and senior leadership.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting required; CPA and public accounting experience preferred.
• ERP experience, ideally with SAP or a similar system.
• Ability to work onsite in Rembrandt, Iowa.
