Job summary

Finatal, in Schaumburg, IL, is partnering with a private equity-backed residential services business to appoint its senior-most finance leader. This is a rare opportunity for a hands-on Controller or Director of Finance who will own the numbers and partner with the Board.

As the senior finance leader, you will own accounting, close, and reporting while guiding budgeting, forecasting, and cash management. You will lead a lean team, present to the Board, and drive process improvements to support

Qualifications

• Strong technical accounting fundamentals and experience owning a monthly close.
• Experience as a Controller, Director of Finance, VP Finance or similar senior finance leader.
• The CPA is strongly preferred; private equity experience is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Full ownership of accounting, month-end close and financial reporting.

We are partnering with a private equity-backed residential services business in the Chicago suburbs to appoint its senior-most finance leader.

This is an excellent opportunity for a strong Controller or Director of Finance who wants to step into a true number one finance position, working directly with the Board.

The business is an established, profitable lower mid-market services organization with a longstanding team in Schaumburg. The environment is hands-on, entrepreneurial and highly operational, making this a great opportunity for someone who wants ownership rather than a narrowly defined corporate finance role.

The Opportunity

As the senior finance leader, you will take ownership of the company's accounting and financial operations while serving as a key partner to executive leadership.

Responsibilities will include:

• Full ownership of accounting, month-end close and financial reporting
• Leadership of a lean accounting team across AR, AP and general accounting
• Preparation and presentation of monthly financial reporting to senior leadership and the Board
• Ownership of budgeting and forecasting
• Cash flow forecasting and cash management
• Maintaining strong financial discipline around the order-to-invoice and cash conversion cycle
• Partnering with leadership on financial analysis and business decision-making
• Helping guide the business through its next phase of growth and strategic development
• Continuing to improve processes, controls and reporting as the organization evolves

The company currently operates on Sage Intacct integrated with Salesforce.

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for a hands-on accounting leader who can both own the numbers and understand the broader commercial implications behind them.

The successful candidate is likely to have:

• Strong technical accounting fundamentals and experience owning a monthly close
• Experience as a Controller, Director of Finance, VP Finance or similar senior finance leader
• The ability to serve as the number-one finance professional within a smaller organization
• Experience leading and developing a lean accounting team
• Strong cash flow management and forecasting capabilities
• Enough FP&A experience to own budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
• The ability to communicate financial performance effectively to senior leadership and a Board
• A CPA is strongly preferred
• Private equity experience is helpful but not required

Industry experience is flexible. Candidates coming from home services, field services, industrial services, construction-related businesses, distribution or other operationally intensive environments could be particularly relevant.
