Job summary

ChicknLegs, a fast-growing running brand, seeks a Controller to oversee all accounting functions and financial reporting as the company scales. You will build scalable finance infrastructure and translate data into leadership insights.

The ideal candidate has 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, CPA, and deep GAAP knowledge, with hands-on experience in ecommerce and multi-channel operations. Competitive benefits provided.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA certification.
• 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accountant.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles.
• Experience implementing or improving financial systems and processes.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting software, ideally QuickBooks.
• Experience evaluating and implementing new financial tools as the company grows.
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Experience in e-commerce, apparel, or consumer goods companies a plus.
• Familiarity with inventory accounting and multi-channel sales.
• Experience supporting rapid company growth or operational scaling.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and expense management
• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process
• Prepare and review accurate financial statements and management reports
• Ensure compliance with GAAP accounting standards
• Establish and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies
• Oversee inventory accounting and cost of goods sold (COGS) tracking
• Maximize product margins and minimize operational costs
• Manage revenue recognition across e-commerce and wholesale channels
• Reconcile e-commerce and payment platforms such as Shopify
• Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making
• Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
• Monitor cash flow, working capital, and financial performance
• Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and cost optimization
• Build and improve scalable accounting systems and processes
• Manage accounting platforms such as QuickBooks
• Evaluate and implement new financial tools as the company grows
• Support automation and improvements in financial reporting
• Coordinate with external CPA firms, tax advisors, and auditors
• Support tax filings, audits, and regulatory compliance
• Ensure accurate documentation and financial transparency

The role

The Controller will oversee all accounting functions and financial reporting for ChicknLegs. This role will ensure accurate financial management while helping the company build scalable financial infrastructure to support rapid growth.

The ideal candidate has experience helping small-to-midsize businesses scale, is comfortable operating in a hands-on environment, and can translate financial data into actionable insights for leadership.

Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations

• Oversee all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and expense management
• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process
