Job summary

Eva Garland Consulting, LLC seeks an experienced Controller to oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, reporting, and compliance. You will lead a finance team and develop internal controls to ensure accurate data and safeguard assets.

The role reports to executive leadership, guiding strategic financial planning, cash flow management, and process improvements to support growth. A minimum 7+ years in finance and CPA are preferred, with flexible onsite/remote options.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all financial operations including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance.

• Prepare and analyze financial statements for management review.
• Manage payroll, A/R, A/P, expenses, and billing/collections processes.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to support business strategy and profitability.

Job description

The Controller will overseethe firm’s financial activities, ensuringfinancial stewardship,compliance, accuracy, and efficiencyin financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls. The Controller will provide strategic financial leadership and collaborate with executive management to support business growth and operational success.

The Controller will oversee a finance team, which may include bookkeeper(s), A/R, A/P andpayroll specialists.

Essential Functions

• Overseeall financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance.
• Ensure stewardship of company funds and proactively notify Senior Managementof cost saving measures.
• Ensureproper delegation of authority and approval processes are documented and followed.
• Develop and implement internal controls to ensureaccuratefinancial data and safeguard company assets.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuringtimelyandaccuratereporting to management.
• Lead financial planning, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flowmanagement.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and industry-specificfinancial requirements.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to executive leadership to support business strategy.
• Manage month-endand year-end close processes,ensuingaccuracy and efficiency.
• Manage company expenses, including credit cardpurchasesand reimbursements.
• Manage the payroll process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax laws.
• Oversee employee benefits.
• Manage the monthly billing andcollectionsprocess.
• Manage insurance policies andpremiums.
• Oversee external audits.
• Evaluate and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and systems for improved efficiency.
• Collaborate with other departments to align financial goals with overall businessobjectives.
• Assessfinancial risks and opportunities,implementingstrategies to mitigaterisksand improve profitability.
• Perform other functions as necessary to support the organization.

Core Competencies

• Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Experience with financial forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
• Proficiencyin accounting software,ERP systems,billing software, timekeeping software,and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience withCosmolexbilling system preferred.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong leadership abilities with experience managing accounting teams.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• Minimum7+ years of accounting or finance experience
• CPA

TheControlleris required todevote a minimum of20 hoursper week to the position (workweek is from Sunday through Saturday).The employee may complete work from locations other than the office (such as from home),only with the pre-approval of his/her supervisor. The employee must be available for in-person meetings with the EGC teamand withclients.
