Qualifications

About Clay Property Management

Clay Property Management is a vertically integrated real estate management company based in Raleigh, NC. We own and operate across the full real estate lifecycle: residential property management, resident apartment maintenance, commercial real estate, acquisitions, and residential sales - all under one roof.

We're growing quickly and looking for an experienced Controller to take ownership of the accounting function for our property management operations. This is a hands-on role for someone who knows AppFolio accounting inside and out, enjoys solving problems, and is comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where processes are still evolving.

The Role

As Controller, you'll be responsible for keeping our property-level accounting accurate, organized, and moving on schedule.

This is not a purely supervisory role. We're looking for someone who is comfortable getting into the details - reconciling accounts, diagnosing accounting issues, working through AP and AR, and identifying discrepancies inside AppFolio.

You'll work closely with ownership, property management, and operations and will have the opportunity to help build better accounting systems and processes as the company continues to scale.

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Bachelor's degree
• 3+ years of hands-on AppFolio accounting experience
• Property management accounting experience
• Strong understanding of bank reconciliations, general ledger accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
• Strong Excel skills
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot accounting discrepancies
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities
