Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Construction Controller in the United States with a strong background in WIP reporting and multi-entity financial leadership. You will own monthly close, oversee ledger activity, and partner with project teams to ensure accurate cost and revenue recognition across jurisdictions.

The role requires at least 7+ years in accounting with 3+ years in leadership, a degree in Accounting or Finance, and proficiency with Excel and ERP systems. CPA is a plus; relocation may be available.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
• At least 3 years of leadership experience.
• Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Experience with WIP reporting in construction is required.
• Strong Excel capabilities and ERP familiarity.
• CPA is a plus; union experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own recurring financial reporting and support tax filings across multiple jurisdictions.
• Oversee day-to-day accounting activities including ledger maintenance, collections, and payments.
• Partner cross-functionally to track project-based financials and revenue recognition.
• Lead the full close process with governance and accuracy.
• Serve as audit contact and document control point.
• Manage and mentor a small accounting team.
• Ensure payroll accuracy and reporting; contribute to budgeting/forecasting.

Job Details

We are seeking a Controller with a solid background in the construction industry to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have experience with WIP reporting in the Construction industry, to go along with leadership skills.

Responsibilities:

• Own the preparation of recurring financial reports and support periodic tax filings and regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
• Oversee day-to-day accounting activity including ledger maintenance, collections tracking, and outgoing payments.
• Partner cross-functionally to track project-based financials and support close cycles with accurate cost and revenue recognition.
• Lead the close process end-to-end, ensuring alignment with standard accounting practices and internal governance.
• Act as a point of contact for audit-related requests and documentation.
• Manage and mentor a small team, providing guidance, oversight, and performance feedback.
• Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on schedule, including related reporting.
• Contribute to budgeting and forecasting efforts, identifying trends and explaining financial performance to stakeholders.
• Support ad hoc financial and operational initiatives as needed.

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, including at least 3 years of team leadership.
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline required.
• Experience with WIP reporting in the construction industry is required.
• Strong Excel capabilities and comfort working within accounting/ERP systems.
• Exposure to mid-market accounting platforms or similar tools is a plus.
• Professional certification (e.g., CPA) is a plus.
• Union experience is a plus.
