Job summary

C&S Machine in Michigan is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and month-end close, partnering with operations to drive profitability and operational excellence.

Reporting to the CFO, you will strengthen internal controls, support lean initiatives, manage audits and tax filings, and provide clear financial insights to guide executive decision-making. This role requires strategic thinking and hands-on leadership in a growing manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Strong background in accounting and financial reporting under U.S. GAAP.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and month-end close.
• Ability to partner with operations and senior leadership.
• Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement mindset.
• Experience with ERP systems and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting, reporting, budgeting, and close activities.

Reporting directly to the CFO, you'll play a key leadership role in shaping our financial strategy, strengthening internal controls, improving business processes, and providing the insights that help guide executive decision-making. What You'll Do

• Lead all accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end/year-end close activities while ensuring timely, accurate financial statements and executive reporting.
• Maintain compliance with U.S. GAAP, company policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements, including oversight of audits, tax filings, treasury, cash management, fixed assets, and capital expenditures.
• Partner with operations and executive leadership to provide financial analysis, cost accounting, inventory management, job costing, and variance reporting that drive profitability, operational excellence, and informed business decisions.
• Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, controls, and operational performance.
• Lead finance-related ERP enhancements and ensure accounting systems effectively support manufacturing and production operations.
