Job summary

The Quest Organization is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead the financial operations of a privately held film and production company in New York. The role focuses on cash management, forecasting, multi-entity accounting, payroll, and financial reporting for family office and property-related finances.

Responsibilities include cash flow forecasting, month-end close, job costing, payroll, and coordinating with outside CPAs and advisors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting/controllership experience in film/production, entertainment, family office/high net worth, real estate, or similar.
  • CPA a plus.
  • Strong experience with cash management, forecasting, and multi-entity accounting.
  • Experience with payroll and multi-state compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, reconciliations, and internal controls.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks and Excel.
  • Experience collaborating with leadership and outside advisors.

Responsibilities

  • Own short- and long-term cash flow forecasting, daily cash management, and liquidity planning.
  • Oversee multi-entity accounting, including AP, AR, GL, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting.
  • Manage production job costing, budgets, and variance analysis.
  • Oversee payroll and HR administration, including domestic/household employees and multi-state compliance.
  • Manage family office bill pay, personal expenses, property expenses, insurance, taxes, and capital projects.
  • Manage banking, treasury, credit cards, and financial controls.
  • Coordinate with outside CPAs, attorneys, wealth managers, insurance brokers, and other advisors.
  • Maintain and improve accounting systems, controls, and processes.
  • Oversee tax compliance and contract administration.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of family and business financial information.

Primary focus is cash management, forecasting, multi‑entity accounting, payroll, and financial reporting, with responsibility for family office and property‑related finances.

  • Proficiency with QuickBooks and Excel.
  • Experience working directly with leadership and outside advisors.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, discreet, and able to work independently.
