Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Oversee AP, AR, payroll, GL and financial reporting in GAAP compliance.
• Prepare monthly financial statements (BS, IS, cash flow) and present to leadership.
• Manage annual budget and forecasts.
• Oversee payroll processing and compliance.
• Establish internal controls to protect club assets and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate annual audits and external tax filings.
• Provide financial insights to drive strategic decisions and oversee staff.

Immediate need for County Club Controller in the New York Metro area to be responsible for all general ledger accounting, month-end closings, financial reporting and all financial activities of a golf club. The Controller will have joint responsibility in developing and executing strategies to improve business management processes and financial performance. The ideal candidate MUST HAVE prior work experience as an accounting and finance leader from a GOLF CLUB or COUNTRY CLUB. YOUR INQUIRY WILL BE HIGHLY CONFIDENTIAL

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversee all operational accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting. Ensure accurate and timely financial records in accordance with GAAP.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports. Present financial results to the corporate leadership team.
• Prepare and manage the annual operating budget and financial forecasts.
• Oversee the entire payroll process to ensure accurate and timely payment to all employees. Ensure compliance with federal, state and local payroll regulations. Maintain and update all employee payroll records. Manage all payroll related issues and inquiries from employees. Create, maintain and update all club employee files.
• Establish and maintain a robust system of internal controls to safeguard club assets and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Coordinate annual audits and tax filings with external auditors. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision making. Analyze financial performance and trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Supervise and develop the accounting team, ensuring that staff members are trained, motivated, and performing at their best. Foster a collaborative and results-driven work environment.

Qualifications:

• BBA in Accounting/Finance, or a related field with prior experience working for a golf club.
• Solid accounting system, database software experience and POS system (JONAS Club Software or similar)
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial management principles and higher-level mathematical thinking.
• Microsoft Office experience is a must (Advanced Excel user)
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• High level of integrity and commitment to maintain confidentiality.
