Qualifications

  • Strong ERP experience; Microsoft Dynamics 365 BC preferred.
  • Strong financial reporting, analysis, and process improvement skills.
  • Hands-on leadership balancing strategic initiatives with day-to-day accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead accounting and finance operations while developing the accounting team.
  • Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting.
  • Develop management reports, KPIs, and department-level profitability and margin analysis.
  • Oversee inventory accounting, valuation, reconciliation, and cost accounting across operations.
  • Improve financial controls, processes, workflows, and reporting accuracy.
  • Serve as ERP resource, optimizing system functionality, automation, and reporting.
  • Monitor cash flow, working capital, banking relationships, debt, taxes, audits, and compliance.
  • Partner with ownership and leadership on budgeting and strategic financial initiatives.

Job description

A growing equipment sales, rental, and service organization is seeking a hands-on Controller based in Central Massachusetts to lead its accounting and financial operations. This role combines traditional accounting leadership with a strong focus on inventory, cost accounting, ERP systems, and operational performance.

The ideal candidate can operate at a strategic level while remaining actively involved in day-to-day accounting, reporting, and process improvement. This individual will work closely with ownership and department leaders across Sales, Service, Parts, Rentals, and Operations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead accounting and finance operations while managing and developing the accounting team
  • Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting
  • Develop management reports, KPIs, and department-level profitability and margin analysis
  • Oversee inventory accounting, valuation, reconciliation, and cost accounting across equipment, parts, and service operations
  • Improve financial controls, accounting processes, workflows, and reporting accuracy
  • Serve as a key ERP resource, optimizing system functionality, automation, and reporting
  • Monitor cash flow, working capital, banking relationships, debt obligations, taxes, audits, and compliance
  • Partner with ownership and leadership on budgeting, operational performance, staffing, compensation planning, and strategic financial initiatives
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting and financial leadership experience
  • Significant inventory and cost accounting experience required
  • Experience within equipment sales, rental, service, dealership, distribution, or a similar inventory-driven business
  • Strong ERP systems experience required; Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience strongly preferred
  • Strong financial reporting, analysis, and process improvement skills
  • Hands-on leadership style with the ability to balance strategic initiatives with day-to-day accounting responsibilities
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
