Job summary

CFS is seeking a Controller in Madison, Wisconsin to lead the accounting function and serve as a financial partner to the operational leadership team. You will drive accuracy, integrity, and timely reporting across the business, helping non-finance leaders understand financial implications.

The role includes overseeing budgeting and forecasting, enhancing WIP reporting for project visibility, and supporting ERP implementations, month-end, and year-end closes with strong internal controls.

Qualifications

• Construction or project-based industry experience required.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• Experience participating in or leading ERP/software implementations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the accounting function and serve as a key financial partner to operational leadership.
• Play a significant role in the implementation of new business systems.
• Oversee the budgeting and forecasting process, providing meaningful financial insights to leadership.
• Manage and enhance WIP reporting to ensure accurate project financial visibility.
• Partner closely with project managers to review costs, profitability, and overall project performance.
• Act as the primary financial liaison between accounting, operations, service, and project teams.
• Develop financial reporting that helps leaders make informed business decisions.
• Monitor financial performance trends and identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities while maintaining strong internal controls.

Requirements For The Controller Role

• Construction, mechanical contracting, or project-based industry experience is required
